POPWD invite speakers to give presentations at multi-agency meetings. The following is a list of speakers that have attended and given presentations at our multi agency meetings:

Dr. Denise Tanner, Associate Professor at Warwick University’s School of Health and Social Studies will give a presentation on ‘Supporting Older People to live independently in the community’.

Tim Willis, Strategic Commissioner for Project Lead, Warwickshire County Council, gave a presentation on ‘Market Development – Future of Care Accommodation in Warwickshire’.

Maureen Hirsch, (who is a member of the POPWD strategy group), Researcher with Warwick University and Social Policy academic presented her findings on her recent research carried out by herself and Age Concern England around Social Rehabilitation Services for older people. As a result of this meeting, a report was developed and circulated to everyone who was invited to the meeting which includes feedback from representatives who attended the meeting.

A presentation titled ‘Home Alone: Care in the Community’, was arranged to inform representatives of hospital after care. This meeting was a follow up from Maureen’s presentation on Social Rehabilitation. Marion Grimwood, (one of our strategy group members) gave a talk on her recent experiences upon being discharged from hospital. This meeting was set up because we wanted to mount a campaign to collect experiences from older people in the district who have recently been discharged from hospital.

One of our objectives is to promote understanding between agencies about the needs and service provisions for older people, leading to a shared agenda. Bearing this in mind we have set up two presentations for the above meeting.
