The Portuguese
Project provides a range of support services for the Portuguese
speaking Community.
Aims
The aims of the Portuguese project are:
To work closely
with the local Portuguese speaking community.
To create links
between the Portuguese speaking community and statutory
and voluntary organisations.
To provide a
signposting service to the Portuguese speaking community.
To translate
relevant literature
To assist the
Portuguese speaking community access local services.
Types
of services provided to the Portuguese community
Form
filling, GP registrations, benefits etc
Information
on local services, such as, Jobcentreplus, GP surgeries and
more…
Verbal translation
of letters.
Appointment
booking.
Referral
of clients to statutory and voluntary organisations.
Phone calls to organisations on the clients behalf.
Signposting to relevant services.
Services
provided to organisations
Written translation
of literature. E.g. promotional materials.
Links with
the Portuguese speaking community.
Services
which are not provided to organisations
Specialist interpreting,
this includes appointments with GPs, Dentists, Jobcentre,
District Council or County Council, Police interviews, Social
Services interviews, including interpreting over the phone.
After hours appointments
Advisory services.

Who
can access the services?
Any statutory
or voluntary organisation and any Portuguese speaking person.
Are
there any costs?
The services
are free.
